This topic describes known issues that WebTrader end-users may experience with their browsers:
In some cases, WebTrader user browsers may display unexpected security warnings or may block some WebTrader features.
This is usually due to incompatibility issues between your web browser version and the Java Runtime Environment that is installed on your machine. If you experience unexpected display problems or receive security warnings, contact your computer network administrator to confirm that the appropriate JRE and browser plug-ins are installed.
Chrome 42 (released April 2015) and later versions do not allow Java plugins in the way plugins have been traditionally enabled in browsers. Special configuration is now required. For more information refer to the Java website under the topic "How do I enable Java in my web browser?"
WebTrader end user machines are is configured with JRE 8. The end-user system automatically downloads unlimited strength JCE policy files from the WebTrader community server to which it connects (if the files do not exist already exist on your client machine).
| Note | This download requires, as a prerequisite, that the appropriate Unlimited Strength policy files exist in the following folder of the administrator's WebTrader licensed Interchange server: |
.../Interchange/webapps/wtapplet/jcepolicy
In many cases, after being downloaded, the policy files cannot be copied to the appropriate local destination directory on your machine (...\Java\jre\lib\security) because the Java Runtime Environment files are (by default) located in the C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) folder, which is write-protected by Windows User Account Control. In this case you can view an "Access denied" error if you set up your computer to run a debug on the applet code.
In normal use, there is no specific indication the end user that the policy file download has failed to copy to the directory. However the end user does see the standard message indicating that the applet has not loaded. When a policy download fails, this message will remain on the user's screen with the advice to contact the administrator.
It is possible to view the progress of the policy down load on the user's machine by opening a Java console:
With the console activated, you can view details of the Unlimited Strength Policy download failure.
There are two options for avoiding this policy download failure:
With a Java console, open you should now be able to confirm the success of the policy download. The end user can proceed with trading activities.
In some cases the end-user machine Java cache may contain versions of older web pages and programs that conflict with the current version of the WebTrader interface. If you suspect that this is the case you can empty the Java cache using the following procedure:
